Job summary

University Health Network in Toronto Rehabilitation Institute is seeking a part-time Nutrition Services worker to assemble meals, stock stations and maintain work areas. The role involves cold food production, portioning prepared foods and ensuring timely service in a hospital setting.

Requirements include grade 12 or equivalent, good dexterity, teamwork, and the ability to lift up to 10 kg. Shifts are days, bi-weekly, up to 24 hours. Closing date August 6, 2026.

Hours:Up to 24 Hours/Bi-Weekly
Wage Range:$26.46 - $27.36 per hour.Start rate non-negotiable.
Shifts:Days & Alternate Weekends, 07:00-15:00
Status:Temporary Part-time (up to 12 months)

Duties

• Assembling meals on the cold assembly beltline, as per meal ticket request.
• Retrieving, stocking, and setting up food items and supplies at work stations.
• Disassembling, cleaning, and maintaining workstation and beltline area.
• Cold food production.
• Portioning prepared foods.

Requirements

• New hires must have grade 12 or equivalent education
• Good manual dexterity and organizational skills
• Good team player
• 6 months practical and related experience
• Food Service Worker Certificate preferred
• Food Handlers Certificate preferred
• Ability to read/understand short notes, brief forms and memos
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job: able to lift to 10 kg, loading, and unloading food trucks; pushing heavy food trucks during pick up and delivery of meals
• Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance with UHN standards
• Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
• Compliance with confidentiality requirements under UHN Privacy Policy
• Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
• Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
• Required to be available to work alternating weekends and statutory holidays and at least 3-week days in a two-week period
• Work in Warm/Humid Conditions
• May be required to work at multiple areas as well as rotating shifts in emergency situations
