Job summary

The Salvation Army in Calgary is seeking a part-time Resident Support Worker for its Centre of Hope shelter. You will provide basic needs, guidance, and a respectful, safe environment to men experiencing homelessness, helping them move toward independent living.

You will handle admissions, ongoing assessments, and coordinate with internal teams and external agencies; maintain accurate records; contribute to a supportive, trauma-informed program and enforce policies with privacy and dignity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; specialized courses up to 6 months may be added.
• First Aid/CPR certification from an Alberta-approved provider is required.
• Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search is required.
• Incumbents with a Social Work diploma or degree must be registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers.

Responsibilities

• Handle admission, orientation and evaluation of male residents.
• Maintain records, incident reports and program documents.
• Coordinate with Spiritual/Religious Care and external agencies as needed.
• Provide mediation and support to residents in a safe, respectful environment.
• Assist with light housekeeping, laundry and supplies; monitor security and safety.
