Job summary

Steinbachonline is seeking motivated individuals for a sheet metal apprentice role. You will assist in installing assemblies, reading and laying out drawings, and operating light metalworking machines to exact specifications in a safety‑minded shop.

Candidates must be willing to enter the Apprenticeship Program, follow written and verbal instructions, demonstrate good reading/writing skills, and maintain a cooperative attitude.

Qualifications

• Must be willing to enter into the Apprenticeship Program.
• Able to work efficiently and follow written and verbal instruction.
• Strong skills relating to reading, writing and document use.
• Must portray a pleasant and co-operative attitude, and take pride in the quality of your work.
• Heavy Lifting involved.
• Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license.
• Position is subject to Pioneer Co-op’s Alcohol and Substance Policy as a condition of employment.

• Assist in metal fabrication based on required specifications.
• Assist in reading engineering and architectural drawings, sketches and work specifications to be performed, and lay out, measure and mark sheet metal according to drawings or templates.
• Assist in the development of patterns for sheet metal as required.
• Operate light metalworking machines.
• Ensure all work is performed in a safe, efficient manner and is compliant with all relevant legislation and standards.
• Housekeeping duties.
• Other duties as assigned.
