Job summary

LAING is seeking a skilled sheet metal worker in Canada to read blueprints, measure and cut sheet metal, and install and supervise hoisting equipment across varied locations.

Frequent travel is required; no formal degree is necessary, with 2–3 years of experience preferred and opportunities for on-the-job training and team building.

You will work outdoors at heights, installing flashings and roofing components according to building codes.

Qualifications

• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications for work requirements.
• 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in sheet metal.
• On-the-road role with frequent travel to varied locations.
• High attention to detail and physical capability.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
• Measure and mark sheet metal according to template
• Supervise other workers
• Cut materials using power tools or by hand
• Assemble, erect and install hoisting and rigging equipment
• Fit and join sheet metal parts
• Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes
• Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms
• Install sheet metal flashings
• Install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools
• Apply waterproof coatings to concrete or other masonry surfaces below or above ground level
