Job summary

Evergreen Sheet Metal (2018) Ltd in Vancouver is seeking a skilled Foreman to coordinate on-site activities for a major hospital project. This is a union role with Local 280, and the successful candidate must currently be a Local 280 member or register with the union hall.

The Foreman will lead by example, develop short- and long-term schedules, plan tasks for Journeypersons, enforce safety and QAQC programs, order materials, monitor subcontractors, and ensure work remains on schedule and within

Qualifications

  • Red Seal Certification is required.
  • Minimum 10 years in the construction industry.
  • At least 5 years in a Foreman role.
  • Proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with design/renovation software is a plus.
  • Experience with AutoDesk and Trimble products is an asset.
  • Reading blueprints and construction drawings is essential.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally.

Responsibilities

Job description

Evergreen Sheet Metal (2018) has operated in the BC Lower Mainland HVAC and Sheet Metal Industry for over 15 years. We are part of the Local 280 union and we are looking for a hardworking professional to join our team as a Foreman at our major hospital project n Vancouver.

This position is a union role with Local 280, the successful candidate will need to be a current member of Local 280 or contact the union hall to register as a member.

Specifically, the Foreman will:

Provide on-site coordination for all phases of the project, including coordinating subcontractors, materials and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget.

Reporting to the Project Manager & Construction Manager, the Foreman Level A or B is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating and directing all aspects of the project installation, by:

  • Leading by example; working alongside, supervising and directing the site team
  • Developing short-term and long-term schedules in collaboration with the Project Manager & Construction Manager
  • Planning and scheduling tasks for the Foreman Level B and Journeypeople
  • Establishing standard site work hours
  • Helping eliminate job site clutter and overordering
  • In Partnership with the Project Manager, developing a strong understanding of the project scope, reviewing documentation for consistency and issuing RFI’s as required
  • In Partnership with the Project Manager & Construction Manager, developing and enforcing the project-specific health and safety policy
  • In Partnership with the Project Manager, developing and enforcing the project-specific QAQC program
  • Ordering of materials and equipment to suit the site installation
  • Directing and monitoring sub-trade works to ensure the installation is in line with the project documents
  • Monitoring and reporting on-site installation to ensure activities are in line with the project schedule, adjusting the team and/or tasks as required
  • Performing other duties as required

Education & Experience
  • A minimum of 10 years in the construction industry
  • Red Seal Certified
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Familiarity with AutoDesk and Trimble products is considered an asset
  • A minimum 5 years as a Foreman
  • Able to maintain good working relationships with personnel of other departments
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and orally
  • Formal training in construction management would be an asset
  • The ability to use Bluebeam, AutoDesk products and/or NavisWorks would be an asset
  • Able to adapt to new systems as they come into practice
Work Conditions

Compensation:

$55.10 Foreman Level B - $58.61 Foreman Level A + Vehicle Allowance ($7200/year) + Phone allowance: $75/month + Bonus. Benefits & Pension are provided by the Local 280 Union.
