Job summary

Floodway Print Company in Winnipeg is seeking a part-time sewing assistant to operate a Singer 9960, sew labels and hats to spec, and meet targets. You will work independently, set personal goals, and may train others as you gain speed, while staying comfortable with computers and basic cloud tools.

Job description

Sewing at Floodway is a casual part-time role running a Singer 9960. The job is sewing labels and tags onto t-shirts, toques and hats, to a written spec, at a target you set and hit.

Sewing experience is the one thing we can’t train around. We’ll give you the specs, the quality checks and the support, but you need to already know your way around a machine.

What the job looks like

• Sewing to the spec provided, on your own.
• Setting job targets and hitting them.
• Training others on the basic jobs once you’re up to speed.
• 2+ years sewing, ideally in apparel manufacturing.
• You work well without someone standing over you.
• You communicate clearly and bring a good attitude. That one isn’t optional here.
• You’re comfortable with computers, technology and the cloud.
• Any screen printing, printmaking or production experience helps, but it isn’t a requirement.
