University of Toronto, Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape & Design, invites applications for a Sessional Lecturer I/II/III in Landscape Architecture for the St. George campus in downtown Toronto.

The instructor will lead a design studio, deliver lectures, and assess student work for a January 1, 2027 to April 30, 2027 appointment, with salary per CUPE rates. Minimum qualifications include a degree in Architecture (or related design) and professional design experience; preferred

Qualifications

• We are seeking applicants with a professional degree in landscape architecture and a record of teaching landscape design at the undergraduate or graduate level.
• Demonstrated design excellence will be evaluated through portfolio and professional awards.

Responsibilities

• Lead a design studio section under the direction of a course coordinator.
• Prepare and deliver course content in a design studio setting.
• Develop and administer assignments and provide regular feedback to students.
• Mark and grade student work and submit grades to University officials.
• Maintain reasonable hours of student contact outside scheduled hours.

Course Description: This studio will examine the reciprocal influences of landscape and urbanism, with respect to form and process, through a focus on landscapes as urban systems at multiple scales.

Class Schedule: MO 09:00-12:00, TH 09:00-12:00

• $21,398.43 (Sessional Lecturer I Long Term)

Demonstrated experience in landscape practice is an asset. Demonstrated design excellence is desired and will be evaluated through consideration of professional experience, design awards (if applicable), and a 1-2 page portfolio.

Duties

Duties: The chosen candidate(s) will lead a design studio section under the direction of a course coordinator. Normal duties may include the preparation and delivery of course content in a design studio setting; the development and administration of assignments; providing students with regular feedback on their work in the studio setting; the marking and grading of student work and the submission of grades to appropriate University officials in accordance with policy; the maintenance of reasonable hours of student contact outside of scheduled contact hours; and the supervision of the day-to-day work of any Teaching Assistants assigned to the course. There is no expectation of or requirement for research or administrative service.
