Job summary

Insight is seeking a Services Technician for our Montreal, Quebec office. You will install, modify, repair, test and service hardware, software configurations, cabling, and network equipment at customer sites to minimize downtime.

You’ll work with a Fortune 500 Solutions Integrator known for cloud, data, AI and cybersecurity excellence. We value a Bachelor's degree (or 2 years related experience) and 6 months to 2 years in telecom, plus strong Windows OS and diagnostics skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 2 years related experience or training; or equivalent.
• Experience with LANs/WANs, PCs, messaging and server software.
• 6 months to 2 years of telecommunications experience.
• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Performs hardware and peripheral repairs and identifies problems.
• Installs and tests system hardware at customer sites.
• Provides telephone support for dispersed user community.
• Installs and configures network and data equipment (switches/routers/firewalls/VPN).
• Be AmbITious: opportunities to upskill and advance within Insight.

As a Services Technician, you will perform installation, modification, repair, testing and/or servicing on systems and communications equipment, including, but not limited to: hardware and peripherals; software configuration; voice, video and data cabling systems; and networks. We will count on you to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Along the way, you will get to:

• Performs necessary hardware and peripheral repairs. This includes, but is not limited to, identifying the problem and determining the most efficient and cost effective way to resolve the problem, keeping customer downtime to a minimum.
• Installs and tests system hardware at customer site. This includes, but is not limited to, setting up the hardware, testing the hardware to make sure it is working, identifying system hardware problems and following any special instructions.
• Provides telephone support for a geographically dispersed user community using a combination of desktop remote control products.
• Installs, tests, and configures network and data communication equipment such as switches, routers, firewalls, VPN devices, etc

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year College or university or 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• LANs, WANs, Personal Computers, messaging and server software applications experience required.
• 6 months to 2 year of telecommunications experience.
• Extensive knowledge of windows operating systems, vendor diagnostics, re-image software such as Ghost, Virus scan software.
