Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker in Ottawa, Ontario is seeking a Service Technician to join our branch team. You will handle repairs, identify parts, process service work orders, and provide over-the-counter support for Black & Decker, DEWALT, Stanley and Bostitch tools.

Ideal candidates have a community college or trade school background, compressor or power tool repair experience, strong communication and sales skills, and familiarity with cash registers and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a community college or trade school preferred.
  • Compressor repair experience on equipment is an asset.
  • Experience in a service environment, preferably with power tool repair.
  • Effective communication and sales skills, and experience in working directly with the public.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to complete tasks in tight time frames.
  • Knowledge of cash registers and computers, especially Microsoft Office, is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate and complete repairs, including proper identification of SKUs and parts needed.
  • Process service work orders, logging, tracking, and follow-up.
  • Provide over the counter repairs for Black & Decker, DEWALT, Stanley and Bostitch tools.
  • Provide technical assistance to distributors, end users, and staff.
  • Process customer requirements, parts and accessories through POS and internal systems (SAP/MGV).
  • Provide parts identification, product application, and product information to customers by phone, counter, mail, and fax.
  • Verify and administer warranty on products through date codes and parts condition.
  • Inventory control – ordering parts and SKUs to maintain service levels.
  • Ensure courteous, knowledgeable, and efficient service to maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate and follow up with customer parts and tool orders.
  • Make day-to-day operational decisions and coordinate processes to comply with internal audit standards.
  • General service branch opening/closing responsibilities including cash registers and computers.
  • Assist with shipping and receiving within the Branch and other duties.

What You Will Get To Do
  • Estimation and completion of repairs, including proper identification of SKU’s and parts needed

Who You Are
  • Graduate of a community college or trade school preferred
