Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking a Catering Server to deliver and serve food and beverages at scheduled functions. You will assemble orders, log temperatures, and help with setup and closeout tasks.

You should have a Food Handler Certificate and at least 1 year of related experience, with strong communication and organizational skills. A valid driver’s license may be required; safety policies must be followed.

Qualifications

• Valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent.
• Responsible Beverage Service certification for the applying province.
• At least 1 year of catering or similar experience.
• Must be able to read event orders and organize deliveries.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and deliver all food and supplies for catered functions to scheduled locations.
• Log and maintain food temperatures to ensure safety.
• Assist with food and table preparation before events.
• Arrange buffet tables with food, beverages, and service items per standards.
• Serve plated dinners and respond to beverage and appetizer requests.
• Maintain display equipment clean during service.
• Clean up after events and assist with inventory and storage.
• Return equipment to the catering facility and stock as needed.
• Ensure guests receive friendly, courteous service at all times.
• Know the full menu and products on hand; follow safety policies.
• May drive a catering delivery truck when required.

How you will make an impact:
You will be responsible for delivering and serving food and beverages at scheduled functions.

As a Catering Server, you will:

• Assemble and deliver all food and supplies for catered functions to their scheduled locations


• Log and maintain food temperatures


• Assist with food and table prep before events begin


• Arrange buffet tables with food, beverage, and service items according to standards


• Serve plated dinners to guests and respond to requests for beverages, appetizers, and other needs


• Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service


• Thoroughly clean location after event is completed and assist with inventory, food storage and other closeout tasks


• Return food and beverages, serving equipment and utensils to catering facility


• Stock, clean and maintain catering facility and equipment


• Ensure guests receive friendly, courteous service at all times


• Maintain in-depth knowledge of the complete menu and products on hand


• Maintain clean and safe work environment


• Follow safety and sanitation policy and procedures at all times


• May drive a catering delivery truck

About you:

• You must have a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent and Responsible Beverage Service Certificate for the province in which you are applying


• Minimum 1 year experience in a similar environment


• Valid driver's license may be required


• Able to accurately read event orders and organize deliveries for the day


• Ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment


• Strong oral and written communication skills


• Extremely well organized and efficient; able to multi-task


• Good attention to detail


• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
