Job summary

Gibbons Whistler seeks a Server Captain for The Longhorn Saloon, a fast-paced iconic Whistler venue. You will lead the floor, set the pace, and mentor the server team while delivering warm, energetic hospitality throughout service.

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years of serving in a busy, high-volume setting.
• Bottle service experience is a strong asset.
• Confident, engaging communicator with guest interaction skills.
• Naturally sales-driven and comfortable upselling.
• Strong hospitality knowledge and guest experience focus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the floor and set the pace for other servers.
• Drive revenue through product knowledge and upselling.
• Support and coach junior servers to maintain service standards.

We’re looking for an experienced, guest-focused server who can lead by example in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. You’ll deliver exceptional service, drive sales, and help keep the floor running smoothly while supporting and guiding the server team. What You Bring to the Table

• 1–2+ years of serving experience in a busy, high-volume restaurant, bar, or nightlife environment
• Previous bottle service experience is a strong asset
• Confident, engaging communicator with strong guest interaction skills
• Naturally sales-driven and comfortable asking for the sale
• Strong understanding of hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences
• Proven ability to build genuine rapport with guests and community connections
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and aware of what’s happening around you
• Confident supporting, guiding, and setting the pace for other servers
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to jump in wherever needed
• Calm and solutions-focused under pressure
• Strong product knowledge, or the willingness and ability to learn quickly
• Available to work evenings, weekends, après, and peak-season shifts

Your Days Will Look Like

Own Your Section & Your Guests

• Deliver warm, genuine and confident Longhorn hospitality from the moment guests arrive.
  Manage your section efficiently while maintaining strong guest engagement and service standards
• Build genuine rapport with guests and create experiences that encourage them to return.
  Anticipate guest needs and remain visible, attentive and proactive throughout service.
  Confidently recommend food, drinks, premium products, upsells and experiences.

Drive Revenue

• Actively drive sales through strong product knowledge, recommendations and confident selling
• Build community connections and guest relationships that turn first-time visitors into regulars.
• Develop rapport with locals, industry, returning guests and key community contacts.
• Understand the importance of table spend, bottle service, premium products and add-ons.
• Recognise opportunities to increase revenue without compromising the guest experience.

Lead From the Floor

• Assist the Lead Server with managing and supporting the server team.
• Help set the floor up for a successful service, including reservations, floor plans, sections, side duties, product availability and pre-service preparation.
• Maintain awareness of the entire floor — not just your own section.
• Support junior and developing servers through coaching, guidance and leading by example.
• Communicate service issues, guest feedback and operational challenges to the Lead or Manager.
• Help maintain accountability, urgency and teamwork throughout the shift.

Manage the Pace

• Confidently manage multiple tables, tasks and priorities simultaneously in a high-volume environment.
• Remain calm, organised and solutions-focused when the unexpected happens.
• Communicate clearly with servers, support staff, hosts, kitchen, ar and management.
• Understand that the floor is a team environment — jump in wherever you're needed.
• Maintain speed and efficiency without allowing service to become impersonal.
• Deliver confident and professional bottle service experiences.
• Understand bottle presentations, table service, mixers, glassware and premium upselling.
• Help create the energy and atmosphere that makes Longhorn one of Whistler’s must-visit venues.
