Job summary

The University of Waterloo is seeking a Senior Workday Architect to lead architecture for the Workday platform, governing configuration principles, security design, reporting, data design, and cross-module standards for HCM, Payroll and Financial Management.

Working with senior stakeholders, you will define target state architecture, drive evidence-based decisions, and ensure secure, scalable solutions with minimal customization across enterprise systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum of eight years of progressive enterprise application experience, including Workday architecture.
• Demonstrated depth in Workday domains across HCM, Payroll, Financial Management, security, integrations, and data.
• Experience in higher education, public sector, or complex regulated environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establishes Workday architecture governance and target state.
• Defines design principles, configuration standards, and integration patterns.
• Reviews and approves designs within architectural authority and documents exceptions.
• Guides solution design across HCM, Payroll, and Financial Management.
• Ensures security, privacy, and governance in architecture and data flows.
• Mentors analysts, configurators, and developers in Workday design best practices.
