Job summary

The University of Waterloo is seeking a Manager, Payroll to oversee all payroll delivery for domestic and international staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across cycles.

You will lead the payroll team, coordinate year-end reconciliations, and optimize Workday processes while ensuring compliance with government regulations and university policy. CPM certification and 7–10 years’ experience are required.

Qualifications

• Three-year post-secondary education in Commerce, Human Resources, or similar.
• Canadian Payroll Association CPM certification required.
• 7-10 years of progressive payroll and management experience.
• Experience in Higher Education sector preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian federal tax provisions, CPP, EI, provincial healthcare and workers compensation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all payroll delivery for domestic and international staff.
• Ensure monthly/biweekly payroll processing is accurate and on time.
• Maintain compliance with government legislation and university policies.
• Lead payroll team with guidance and development.
• Coordinate year-end reconciliations with HR/Finance and audit readiness.
