Job summary

Bentley Systems in Quebec City is seeking an experienced Senior Developer to lead a cross-functional software engineering squad building and maintaining modern web applications that support our infrastructure and engineering products.

You will drive technical direction, design scalable front-end and back-end solutions using React, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, C#, and ASP.NET Core, contribute to API design, security, and performance, and mentor engineers in an Agile, hybrid-work

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
7+ years working in relevant Software Engineering roles, including Senior Software Engineer.
Proven experience leading software development teams delivering complex products or platforms.
Strong software architecture and system design experience.
Experience with modern cloud-native architectures and distributed systems.
Experience with software delivery platforms including Azure DevOps (ADO) and GitHub.
Experience working in Agile software delivery environments.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and drive technical excellence.
Experience delivering high-quality software in environments with security, compliance, or governance requirements.

Responsibilities

Lead the squad’s technical direction, implementation strategy, architecture, design decisions, and engineering standards.
Build scalable, production-grade front-end applications using React, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as C# and ASP.Net Core Application patterns, with a focus on maintainability, accessibility, and performance.
Deep knowledge of REST and GraphQL APIs, including API and MCP design, security, versioning, performance optimization and integration with external enterprise services.
Review technical solutions, mentor engineers, and promote maintainable, scalable and reliable system design.
Drive best practices across software development, testing, automation, observability, security and operational excellence.
Facilitate sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to achieve agreed objectives, priorities, and measurable commitments.
Identify delivery risks, technical dependencies, and blockers, and drive timely resolution.
Coordinate with other squad leaders, product teams and operational stakeholders to support successful cross-team delivery.
Ensure development activities meet security, compliance, and governance requirements.
Identify opportunities where emerging technologies can create measurable business value, reduce technical debt, eliminate manual processes, and improve the developer experience.
Use observability, operational metrics, and continuous improvement to support data-driven decision making.
Support incident management, production investigations, and root cause analysis when required.
Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
