Job summary

Bentley Systems in Quebec City is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join our Civil Engineering Applications team. You will design, develop, test, and maintain software components for our industry-leading design tools used on major infrastructure projects.

You will own features from design to delivery, mentor junior engineers, collaborate with distributed teams, and drive quality, performance, and innovation. Proficiency in C++ and C# and a strong OO design background are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and C#.
  • Deep understanding of object-oriented design principles, software architecture, and design patterns.
  • Experience designing and developing complex, production-quality software systems.
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with distributed teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and successfully apply them in production environments.
  • A proactive, results-oriented mindset with a passion for delivering high-quality software.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software components for Bentley's Civil Engineering applications.

  • Mentor junior and intermediate engineers by sharing knowledge, best practices, and development expertise.
  • Champion engineering excellence, software quality, and continuous learning across the organization.
  • Support Agile development processes, including sprint planning, estimation, retrospectives, and technical refinement sessions.
Required Qualifications

  • Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and other developer productivity platforms.
