Job summary

Wawanesa is seeking a Senior Underwriting Training Specialist to design and maintain underwriting training programs for Commercial Lines. You will bridge underwriting, operations and enterprise stakeholders while scaling learning experiences.

You will lead the development of knowledge resources, roadmaps and communications to support underwriting teams, with a focus on adult learning and performance improvement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years Property and Casualty experience with a focus on training, enablement or knowledge sharing.
• Knowledge and/or background in Commercial underwriting and related best practices within a learning and development context.
• Proven ability to design, develop, scale, and sustain training programs leveraging adult learning practices.
• Post-secondary education and/or CIP or equivalent Property and Casualty industry designation.
• Certificate in Adult Education (CAE, CACE) is considered an asset.
• Ability to use critical thinking, logic, critical reasoning and good judgement.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze information and implement solutions promptly.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for various audiences.
• Strong planning and organizing skills to define activities, resources, and timelines.
• Agile and change-ready to support transformation initiatives.
• Comfortable publishing and managing content on digital platforms (LI-WAWA).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and implementation of underwriting learning experiences for Commercial Lines.
• Create audience-appropriate underwriting communications related to training experiences.
• Develop and maintain underwriting training roadmaps and conduct needs analyses.
• Lead as SME in development and distribution of training and communication materials.
• Oversee the underwriting knowledge site governance and material content.
• Maintain and update training programs, onboarding and knowledge resources.
• Support underwriting transformation initiatives.
• Mentor team members and share best practices for continuous learning.
• Monitor industry trends, legislation changes and track engagement and feedback on learning initiatives.
• Develop metrics and report on learning effectiveness including participation and completion.
• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead as SME in initiatives to enhance underwriting expertise and critical thinking.
