Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Design Manager to lead multidisciplinary teams on large transit and rail projects in the GTA. You will ensure technical quality, coordination and delivery from preliminary design through construction handover, working with public agencies and contractor partners.

In this hybrid role based in Markham, you will mentor staff, manage interfaces, and champion safety, BIM and design risk management while delivering projects that connect communities and mobility networks.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline with 10+ years of transportation infrastructure design experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer with PEO, or able to obtain licensure.
• Experience as Design Manager or Design Lead on design-build/alliances.
• Strong knowledge of Metrolinx, MTO, municipal standards and AREMA as applicable.
• Experience with BIM, ProjectWise and related design/delivery tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary design teams on large transit and rail projects.
• Define roles, resources and deliverables per design management, BIM and quality plans.
• Manage design scope, schedule, budget and risks.
• Coordinate interfaces between disciplines and with contractors and owners.
• Oversee design progression and reviews across stages from preliminary to issued for construction.
