Job summary

McElhanney Ltd. is seeking a Senior Planner to join the Trails and Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure team in Western Canada. The role focuses on sustainable, accessible trail planning, with a strong emphasis on technical writing, data analysis, and client leadership.

The successful candidate will lead complex projects, mentor staff, and travel across Canada for fieldwork and client engagements.

Qualifications

• Degree in Planning or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Registration or eligible for registration with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP).
• 7+ years of experience in planning, designing, or developing trail and outdoor recreation infrastructure.
• Strong technical writing, editing, and document preparation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of trail master plans and related planning documents.
• Conduct research, analysis, and data synthesis to support recommendations.
• Prepare and review technical reports, permit applications, and procurement docs.
