Job summary

McElhanney, based in Western Canada with a strong Edmonton presence, seeks a Senior Construction Inspector to lead on-site roadway and transportation projects. You will coordinate with project managers, designers, surveyors and support staff to expand services across Alberta and Western Canada.

This role requires a strong technical and project management background, mentoring junior team members, and readiness for increased responsibility in project delivery and client coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• P.Eng with APEGA (or eligibility) or CET with ASET (or eligibility) is an asset.
• 5+ years of project management or technical experience in delivery of transportation infrastructure in Alberta/Western Canada.
• Experience with Alberta Transportation, City of Edmonton, and/or other municipal design and construction standards in Alberta/Western Canada.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for field work.

Responsibilities

• Lead components of roadway, intersection, and transportation construction projects on site.
• Review submittals and deliverables including drawings, shop drawings, reports, memos, and letters.
• Prepare technical reports, design briefs, cost estimates, and tender documents.
• Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, and internal teams to support delivery.
• Lead a multi-disciplinary team to manage and deliver construction assignments.
• Participate in proposal development, scope definition, and LOE estimates.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and technologists.
