Job summary

McElhanney Ltd. is seeking an Intermediate Civil Engineer to join our growing Western Canada team. This role focuses on delivering municipal and infrastructure projects, mentoring junior staff, and building lasting client relationships.

The successful candidate will work across Civil 3D platforms and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. The position reports to the BC office network and offers a comprehensive benefits package, career progression, and relocation support for the right

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
• Experience coordinating and delivering projects including scheduling and client communication
• Registration in good standing as a Professional Engineer (PEng) with EGBC or eligibility for registration in British Columbia
• Experience mentoring junior engineers, EITs, or technical staff is an asset
• Strong client relationship, communication, and project coordination skills
• Proficiency with Civil 3D and related software
• Ability to work independently while contributing within a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

• Provide detailed production of engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for municipal utilities, roadworks, bridges and culverts, water and wastewater systems, and infrastructure upgrades
• Manage and coordinate projects from planning through completion, including client communication, budgeting, scheduling, and project coordination
• Work from preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs, plans, and project documentation using Civil 3D and other technical software as needed
• Coordinate and assist in the preparation of documents required for approvals, construction cost estimates, tender documents, contracts, and project deliverables
• Assist with construction management and contract administration, including field reviews and safety leadership visits
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, EITs, and technical staff
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved and maintained
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders
