Job Description:
SENIOR TECHNICIAN - SECURITY
Our client is seeking experienced Senior Security Technicians to join their Integrated Security team in Vancouver, BC. This role involves collaboratively reviewing, understanding, analyzing, and implementing installation blueprints and plans from Project Managers and Sales Teams to complete installations. The Senior Technician will ensure installations are completed to client satisfaction by making necessary adjustments or finding alternative solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Install, program, and configure security systems, including CCTV cameras, access control systems, intrusion alarms, and fence detection systems, in accordance with industry standards and client specifications.
- Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure the continued functionality and reliability of security systems. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their security needs, provide expert guidance, and offer tailored solutions. Ensure exceptional customer satisfaction through effective communication and professionalism.
- Maintain accurate records of system installations, maintenance activities, and repairs. Prepare and execute detailed reports and acceptance test plans to meet SLAs and contracts for clients and internal use.
- Train clients and end-users on the operation of security systems to maximize their effectiveness and ease of use.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in security technology, regulations, and industry best practices. Continuously improve technical skills through training and certifications.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and compliance standards related to security systems installation and maintenance.
- Perform administrative duties, including project updates to Project Managers and completing and filing all project documentation.
- Be “on-call” before or after regularly scheduled hours, and/or on days not regularly scheduled to work.
- Serve as a mentor to colleagues, offering guidance in testing, fine-tuning, and optimizing equipment for peak operational efficiency.
- Support, lead, and mentor team members.
- Design systems and layout.
- Maintain a high level of safety and professionalism.
- Lead projects at a site level, managing a team of junior technicians as necessary.
- Other duties as required.
Must-Have Skills:
- Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in installing, programming, and configuring security systems in commercial environments.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead installations at the site level and mentor junior technicians.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to ensure the continued functionality and reliability of security systems.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical role within the integrated security industry.
- Progressive experience in a technical role within the integrated security or low-voltage industries.
- Programming experience (essential for senior positions).
- Ability to work 50% to 70% night shifts.
- Previous experience leading installations at the site level.
- Valid TQ certification.
- Proficiency in the use of relevant tools and equipment.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean abstract.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Vendor Certification in low voltage systems (e.g., LENEL, GENETEC, MILESTONE, AVIGILON, AMAG, Keyscan, Kantech, SENSTAR, HANWHA, BOSCH, DSC, and others).
- Postsecondary training in electronics or equivalent (considered an asset).

- Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under minimal supervision.
- Ability to organize workload for effective implementation.
- Ability to complete projects on time and on budget.
- Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.
- Ability to function as an effective team member.
- Ability to adapt as the external environment and organization evolves.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to stand, climb, walk, sit, push, pull, squat, crawl, and stoop.
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel objects, and type on keyboard; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Use of power tools required.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and work at heights over 1.8m (6 feet).
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, job sites, and travel to and from job site locations.
- Typical office environment and occasional exposure to construction equipment.
- Moderate noise level.
- Confined space entry and high work may be required.
