Hatch, a full-service consultancy, is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Surveyor to join the Infrastructure, Highways & Bridges group in Thunder Bay, ON. This is a full-time position.

As the successful candidate, you will:

1. Complete topographic surveys and layouts using modern survey equipment and methods;
2. Keep accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe work performed;
3. Work with the survey crew, evaluate priorities and coordinate and organize the work efforts;
4. Ensure that collected information is accurate and conforms to regulations and standards;
5. Consult with computer operators and assist the final production of work performed;
6. Coordinate findings of the work with engineering personnel and others concerned with the project;
7. Research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys;
8. Determine methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control;
9. Supervise the maintenance of instruments and equipment.

You bring to the role:

1. Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Surveyor and leading a surveyor crew is a definite asset;
2. Familiar with MTO, municipality engineering topographic surveys;
3. Familiar with, and proficiency in, the operation of survey equipment such as the Total Station/Data Collector, Level, and various Global Positioning System (GPS) methods;
4. Familiar with commonly used surveying terms and with the use and care of survey tools and other survey field equipment used for measuring, sighting, and leveling;
5. Familiar with the latest software for downloading survey data from data collectors;
6. Knowledge in the various methods of surveying;
7. Strong leadership skills, work ethic, and team-player attitude;
8. Strong technical, documentation, and organizational skills;
9. Strong computer skills an asset;
10. Experience with using drones for surveying would be an asset;
11. Ontario Driver’s License in good standing;
12. Willing to work out of town.
