Job summary

The City of Richmond Hill is seeking a Lead Stagehand to provide leadership in planning, coordinating, and executing technical and operational needs for events at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. You will lead and train stagehands, supervise load-in/out, and ensure safe execution of productions.

Responsibilities include coordinating with artists, vendors, and crews, managing equipment, and ensuring compliance with OHSA and related codes.

Qualifications

• 3-year BFA in Theatre Production & Design or diploma with at least 3 years related experience.
• 1–2+ years of supervisory experience in theatre/performing arts settings.
• CPR and Standard First Aid certification required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise execution of events from load-in to load-out.
• Oversee rigging, lighting, audio, video, and stage operations.
• Coordinate safety procedures and City policies on site.
• Provide training and orientation to staff, volunteers, and renters.
• Attend production meetings and liaise with artists, vendors, and crews.
• Ensure compliance with OHSA, building codes, and safety standards.
