Job summary

Apartment List is seeking a senior product designer to lead Core across web, mobile web, and native apps. You will craft the next directions, prototype AI-enabled experiences, and wire prototypes to production components so engineers can build from them.

You will influence senior partners and mentor designers, balancing maintenance with invention while shaping craft standards for the team.

Qualifications

10+ years designing digital products and owning cross-functional problems with minimal direction.
Shipped AI-powered prototypes or production code using Cursor or Claude Code.
Experience shipping for web and native mobile with a mobile-first mindset.
Design systems, patterns, or starter kits adopted by teams.
Figma fluency (auto layout, components, variables, systems) with strong visuals.
Proactive, able to identify problems, decide, and drive to resolution.

Responsibilities

Lead the renter experience across web, mobile web, and native iOS and Android.
Balance maintenance and invention; improve existing and build what's next.
Set the craft bar and establish patterns and standards for others to follow.
Prototype AI-forward features and wire to real components for engineering.
Make AI a default part of work processes and evaluate new tools.
Lead through influence with data, renters, and senior partners; mentor colleagues.
