Job summary

The Government of Alberta, Ministry of Tourism and Sport, is seeking a Senior Sport Consultant in Edmonton or Calgary to provide strategic leadership and expert advice to strengthen provincial sport organizations. You will lead programs and funding accountability, manage partnerships, and develop policies that advance an open, safe and welcoming sport system while ensuring responsible use of public funds.

Qualifications

• University degree in Sport, Physical Education, Recreation or related, PLUS 4 years related experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Planning, delivering and evaluating sport programs and services aligned with ministry priorities.
• Managing funding programs and monitoring the accountability and effectiveness of provincial sport organizations.
• Providing expert advice on sport development, governance, organizational effectiveness and emerging issues.
• Developing and supporting policies that strengthen the provincial sport delivery system.
• Building collaborative partnerships with governments, agencies, sport organizations and community stakeholders.
• Administering program and grant budgets to ensure responsible use of public funds.
• Supporting leadership development and organizational capacity within the sport sector.
• Coordinating staff, volunteers and stakeholders to achieve shared program outcomes.
