Job Description

Position: Senior Solutions Designer

Location: Toronto, ON

Duration: 6 months

Role Overview

The Senior Solutions Designer will design hosting andenterprise technology solutions based on service specifications, standards,policies, best practices, and cost models. The role supports applicationbusiness requirements and project or initiative deliverables while contributingto the design, assessment, migration, implementation, and sustainability oflarge, complex technology environments.

The successful candidate will bring extensive backenddevelopment and enterprise integration experience, including REST Web Services,Java enterprise technologies, Spring Integration, middleware, enterpriseservice buses, databases, and cloud-based integration solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertakethe design of hosting technology solutions based on servicespecifications, standards, policies, best practices, and cost models tomeet application business requirements and project or initiativedeliverables.
  
• Applyknowledge of integrated networking technologies, mainframe systems,midrange servers, enterprise storage and SAN, and personal computer systemtechnologies.
  
• Applyknowledge of directory and messaging standards, facilities infrastructureand architecture management, service delivery processes, infrastructurepolicies, procedures, direction, cost models, and procurement processes.
  
• Gatherbusiness requirements and understand corporate I&IT informationmandates, information technology strategic plans, environments, andstandards.
  
• Participatein the development of technology solutions and provide advice onshort-term and long-term solution and service development activities.
  
• Applyknowledge of leading-edge technologies, design criteria, securityandrecovery procedures.
  
• Preparetechnical specifications for the installation, testing, and performance ofintegrated, multi-service systems.
  
• Assessthe performance and capacity of existing systems and make recommendationsfor performance improvements.
  
• Developtechnical documentation.
  
• Plan,migrate, implement, and sustain large, complex system developmentprojects.
  
• Evaluatetechnology developments, trends, and new products for their application toshort-term and long-term technology requirements.
  
• Applybasic knowledge of project management methodologies such as PMBOK,analytical tools, and processes.
  
• Assessand evaluate business needs and conduct cost-benefit analyses for newtechnology requirements when planning and designing solutions.
  
• Designand develop large, complex, highly available, mission-critical serverapplications.
  
• Evaluateexisting systems to assess their condition, technical performance, andcapacity, and determine the need and feasibility of expansion, renovation,or replacement.
  
• Leadother developers as a Team Lead.
