Job summary

Okta Canada, Toronto, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Device Identity to design, build, and scale server-side services in Java/Spring, securing enterprise identities across endpoints. You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and contribute to a high‑visibility security platform.

You’ll collaborate with Product, Design, and QA, implement features end-to-end, promote CI/CD, and champion AI-native practices while maintaining code quality and security.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software development with Java and Spring.
• Deep expertise with high-performance PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Experience designing and securing RESTful APIs for large-scale systems.
• Server-side tech including caching, asynchronous processing, and multi-threading.
• Strong understanding of design patterns, scalability, security, and OOP.
• agile experience with CI/CD and automated testing.
• Excellent communication and ability to influence technical direction.
• Experience with AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot) for development.

Responsibilities

• Drive cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, and QA.
• Lead design and implementation of new features in the Java platform.
• Define and champion engineering best practices and architectural decisions.
• Mentor and coach other engineers through code reviews and guidance.
• Develop high-quality software with test coverage and CI/CD improvements.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and share knowledge.
• Champion AI-native engineering practices within the PDLC.
