Job summary

Wave is hiring a Senior Software Engineer in Canada to build scalable financial products. You will work in a cross-functional team with engineers, product managers and designers to deliver robust backend services in Python/Django and modern frontend UIs in React and TypeScript.

You’ll integrate with third-party payroll APIs, improve observability, and apply advanced software design principles. Expect ownership of major initiatives, collaboration with stakeholders, and a strong emphasis on code

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production web applications, including backend services in Python/Django.
• Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Frontend experience with React and TypeScript; GraphQL/Apollo a plus.
• Experience with third-party financial or payroll API integration and data sync.
• Observability and performance profiling skills; familiarity with tracing and metrics.
• Experience shipping with feature flags and staged rollouts; analytics knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

• Write clear, concise, well-tested code as part of an integrated product team.
• Translate complex cross-system challenges into execution plans.
• Deliver code beyond assigned tasks and own major initiatives end-to-end.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders to achieve end goals.
• Maintain observability, reduce alert noise, and ensure post-launch support.
• Create technical docs and runbooks to share knowledge.
