Bree is expanding its engineering team in Canada to deliver scalable, AI-assisted financial services. You will own major product areas from discovery through production, collaborating with Product, Design, CX, and other engineers to shape solutions and release features.

The role emphasizes architectural decisions, platform modernization, and reliable, observable systems with a fast-growing startup ethos. You will influence money access for millions of Canadians.

Qualifications

• Proven experience shipping customer-facing products end to end.
• AI-native development approach using Claude Code and Cursor.
• Expert-level TypeScript; fluent in Node, React/React Native, REST/GraphQL.
• Real AWS serverless experience (Lambda, SQS) or equivalent.
• Track record modernizing existing systems, not just greenfield.
• Pragmatic testing (Jest) wired into CI.
• Strong product judgment and clear, even-keeled communication.

Responsibilities

• The full lifecycle of a feature, including discovery, technical design, implementation, testing, rollout, monitoring, and follow-up.
• Work across our TypeScript and Node.js serverless backend, including Lambda, API Gateway, and SQS, as well as our React Native application.
• Make practical architectural decisions about service boundaries, data ownership, and when to refactor versus extend an existing system.
• Instrument what you ship and hold the line on stability without slowing releases.
• Use tools such as Codex, Cursor and Claude Code to move faster while remaining responsible for correctness, testing, and quality.
• Mentor other engineers through technical design, code review, and cross-stack collaboration.
