Job description

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Software Developer - Full Stack to lead the technical design, development, integration, and maintenance of large-scale enterprise web applications and platform services. In this role, you will be responsible for creating reusable platform components and building microservices across user-interface, API, workflow, integration, and data-access layers. Leveraging deep hands-on Java expertise, relational database technologies, and modern security protocols, you will translate complex technical requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions within an Agile environment.

Location: Toronto, ON (Fully Onsite - 5 days/week required)

Duration: 11-month contract.

Responsibilities

• Translate approved technical specifications into working, tested, secure, and maintainable enterprise software applications.
• Design, write, compile, debug, document, and unit test application code across frontend, backend, and data-access layers.
• Build and maintain Java-based microservices, REST APIs, RESTful web services, and reusable platform capabilities.
• Develop and maintain database objects, queries, data transformations, conversion routines, and integration workflows using relational databases.
• Implement security gateways and protocols, including JSON Web Tokens (JWT), OAuth 2.0, SSL certificates, secure communications, and identity access integrations.
• Create and maintain automated unit, integration, API, database, and user-interface test suites.
• Participate in design walkthroughs, impact assessments, code reviews, estimation, backlog refinement, and release planning.
• Analyze, review, and modify build, configuration, and deployment scripts to optimize CI/CD pipelines.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical defects arising during development, deployment, migration, and post-implementation operations.
• Collaborate closely with business analysts, architects, UX designers, testers, DevOps engineers, and security specialists across the full software lifecycle.
• Prepare comprehensive technical, deployment, system, and user documentation.

Qualifications

• Senior Development Leadership: 10+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale, multi-client web applications, or equivalent senior development depth (Strictly Required).
• Java & Relational Databases: Extensive hands-on Java development experience working with Oracle, SQL, or comparable relational databases (Strictly Required).
• REST APIs & Microservices: Significant experience designing, implementing, and deploying REST APIs, RESTful web services, and microservice architectures (Strictly Required).
• Security & Authentication Gateways: Proven experience with security gateways and protocols, including JSON Web Tokens (JWT), OAuth 2.0, SSL certificates, secure communications, and identity integration (Strictly Required).

Nice-to-Have Assets

• Prior software development experience within a public sector or enterprise environment.
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps for source control, work tracking, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with database query optimization, SQL tuning, middleware integrations, and data conversion.
• Strong familiarity with web accessibility standards, secure coding principles, and clean code design patterns.
