About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Security Systems Installation & Service Technician to join a growing field service team in Southern Ontario. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced security technician who enjoys troubleshooting and solving problems in the field. While installation is part of the position, the role is heavily focused on servicing, diagnosing and troubleshooting existing security systems across commercial and other customer environments. You’ll work independently in the field while also supporting larger installations, leading jobs and helping develop junior technicians.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Service, diagnose and troubleshoot existing security systems
  • Work across CCTV/camera, access control and alarm systems
  • Install, pull, terminate, test and troubleshoot low-voltage cabling
  • Work with Cat5, Cat6, telephone/quad wiring and shielded fire wire
  • Complete security system installations
  • Help launch and oversee larger installation projects
  • Coordinate technicians and monitor progress onsite
  • Troubleshoot technical and installation issues in the field
  • Program and commission security systems as required
  • Communicate directly and professionally with customers
  • Mentor and support junior technicians
  • Use multimeters, wire toners, wire strippers, drills and other standard field tools
What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of security systems experience
  • Strong experience within commercial security systems
  • Strong service and troubleshooting background
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Access control
  • Alarm systems
  • Low-voltage cabling
  • Ability to independently pull, terminate, test and troubleshoot cabling
  • Basic networking knowledge
  • Ability to diagnose issues independently in customer environments
  • Comfortable leading jobs and supporting junior technicians
  • Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record
  • Must be bondable / able to meet required background and insurance screening
Nice to Have
  • Kantech access control experience
  • DSC or Ajax alarm experience
  • Fire-system or fire-monitoring experience
  • Security system programming / commissioning experience
  • Experience reading technical drawings
  • Working at Heights or similar safety certifications
  • Experience overseeing larger security installation projects
What’s Offered
  • Permanent, full-time opportunity
  • Competitive hourly compensation based on experience
  • Company vehicle
  • Benefits after six months
  • Primarily field-based work throughout Hamilton, Halton, Brant and Niagara
  • Office attendance generally only 1–2 times per week
  • Opportunity to take ownership of jobs and mentor less-experienced technicians
On-Call

Once trained, the successful candidate will participate in a rotating on-call schedule.

  • $150/week standby pay while on call
  • After-hours calls are relatively uncommon
  • Some issues can be resolved remotely over the phone
  • If dispatched to a customer location, double-time compensation applies from leaving home until returning home
The Ideal Candidate

You’re an experienced security technician who can walk into an existing system, figure out what’s wrong and get it working again. You’re equally comfortable working with your hands, speaking with customers, troubleshooting technical issues and helping less-experienced technicians develop.

Most importantly, you’re adaptable, professional and able to work independently without needing constant direction.

If you have strong commercial security experience and enjoy the troubleshooting side of the industry, we’d love to hear from you. The expected hour rate for this position falls between $32 to $40/hr. The expected Annual Salary for this position is up to $83,000/year. This Posting is for a current vacant role, and the successful candidate will be hired into an existing open position.
