Are you looking to join a dynamic and growing team focused on delivering tomorrow’s best-in-class antibody therapeutics in oncology and immunology?

Ability Biotherapeutics is using its discovery engine to systematically generate logic-enabled antibodies with the potential to surpass current treatment paradigms for patients. Our goal is to exquisitely and sensitively target discrete disease causing cells, ultimately increasing the therapeutic benefit while limiting toxicities. Our approach will also leverage the local disease microenvironment, and conditions that exist therein, such as pH and temperature differentials or the presence of certain metabolites, to tailor and focus our therapeutics. The team has deep experience in immunology, oncology, antibody discovery and engineering, as well as drug development from the bench to the market, offering the ideal candidate a rich growth opportunity.

The ideal candidate for this role is a highly motivated and enthusiastic Scientist who thrives working in cross-functional teams. This individual will act as a company resource for establishing new in vitro assays and designing and executing experiments at the heart of characterizing and selecting leads for Ability’s programs. This candidate will also be an integral member of project teams, preparing and presenting the data for team discussion, and gaining valuable exposure to strategy at the project level building skills necessary for future project leadership.This is an exciting hands on opportunity to gain valuable experience in drug discovery and development, ranging for candidate discovery, demonstration of activity in vitro and in vivo, and advancement toward the clinic, all while working in a highly collaborative start-up biotech.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as key company resource for enabling established in vitro protocols and developing and validating novel in vitro assays.
  • Guide assay design, generation and assessment of data sets for selection of candidate antibody therapeutics.
  • Work with Ability team to implement key laboratory systems including electronic notebook, data analysis and tracking.
  • Train and/or oversee research associates to develop novel assays including assay design and conduct, data collection, review and interpretation.
  • Work collaboratively and seamlessly with internal colleagues as well as external CROs and partners to effectively investigate new candidate molecules.
  • Effectively document experimental analyses and communicate within the organization and externally.
  • Participate in strategic and priority setting discussions with senior leadership and project teams and design appropriate assays and plans in line with company goals and timelines.
  • Review and ensure the quality of scientific data to meet regulatory expectations.
  • Author peer-reviewed publications, technical and regulatory documents to support advancement of
  • therapeutics to clinical testing.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent in biological sciences, immunology, oncology, pharmacology or a related discipline with a minimum of 0-3 years experience in biotech/pharma/academia.
  • Experience developing novel assays including experimental design, standardization, data analysis and interpretation, statistics.
  • Technically proficient in range of in vitro assay formats and techniques, ideally with some experience with immune or immune oncology assays and/or investigation of effects of antibody-based therapeutics on cells.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret data from single experiments and integrate data from multiple experiments to draw clear conclusions.
  • Highly motivated strong team player.
  • Willingness to actively and transparently share scientific views, feedback and issues.
  • Ability to work toward priorities and manage timelines consistent with goals for advancing programs.
  • Possession of strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly convey scientific data
  • and interpretation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, inclusively, ethically and thrive in the fast paced and changing
  • environment of a small biotech.
