The CE&S Business Intelligence Team is responsible for delivering data-driven decision making & self-serve analytics to optimize customer experience and support operations across Microsoft’s supported surfaces. We build and manage data platforms, dataflows, governance, ML models, and provide analytics resources and guidance.

We are seeking a goal-driven Senior Data Scientist with extensive experience in developing data-driven solutions and expertise in Machine Learning (ML) and AI technologies. You will collaborate with high-impact data scientists and strategic customers to solve complex problems, working with engineering, product, and program management teams to deploy solutions.

This role offers flexibility to work up to 100% from home.

Responsibilities
  • Be a self-starter with a proven track record of providing technological vision and driving initiatives.
  • Collaborate with engineering and analyst teams to deliver end-to-end systems and experiences.
  • Develop ML models using classical algorithms and foundation models.
  • Utilize Large Language Models and AI technologies to enhance data science practices, increasing speed, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Apply quantitative analysis, data mining, and data presentation skills to inform decision-making.
  • Build relationships with product and business leaders to understand objectives and identify opportunities.
  • Mentor team members.
  • Uphold our culture and values.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year of data science experience.
  • OR Master’s Degree with 3+ years of experience.
  • OR Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience leading and mentoring data scientists.
  • Proficiency in tools like SQL, R, Python, Azure Data Explorer, Databricks.
  • Experience with ML algorithms for forecasting, clustering, classification, NLP, etc.
Other Requirements
  • Ability to meet security screening requirements, including Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to synthesize complex problems.
  • Creative, organized, self-driven with a growth mindset.
  • Effective time management skills.

Data Science IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role in Canada is CAD $108,100 - CAD $199,700 per year.
