We are looking for a Senior SAP Project Manager for a 12-month contract position, with possible extensions in Calgary, Alberta. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
This position is 100% onsite in downtown Calgary. 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week. It is NOT a remote role.
Role Description
The Senior SAP Project Manager will provide end to end leadership for large-scale, enterprise ERP initiatives supporting the Company’s digital transformation strategy. This role is accountable for coordinating complex D&IT dependencies, SAP delivery milestones, and cross functional business outcomes while ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and within scope.
Acting as a strategic bridge between business leadership and D&IT, the Senior SAP Project Manager will translate complex business requirements into scalable SAP and enterprise technology solutions. The role demands strong SAP program leadership, executive communication skills, and proven experience delivering multi year, high value ERP and digital transformation programs in a complex enterprise environment.
Responsibilities
- ERP (SAP) Program Leadership & Governance
- Provide overall leadership for SAP ERP initiatives, including implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and enterprise integrations.
- Serve as the single point of accountability for D&IT and SAP-related project delivery, governance, and risk management.
- Lead program planning, execution, and financial management for large, multi stream ERP projects.
- Business & D&IT Collaboration
- Partner with senior business leaders, process owners, and D&IT leadership to align ERP solutions with operational and strategic objectives.
- Foster strong cross functional collaboration between business units, SAP functional teams, technical teams, vendors, and system integrators.
- Ensure SAP solutions meet business needs while remaining sustainable, scalable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
- Delivery Execution & Demand Prioritization
- Balance competing SAP and D&IT demands, prioritizing initiatives based on business value, risk, and resource availability.
- Drive execution urgency across multiple workstreams (functional, technical, data, integration, testing, and change).
- Remove delivery obstacles and manage escalations to maintain momentum and accountability.
- Business-Technical Translation
- Translate business objectives and process requirements into clear SAP work packages and delivery plans.
- Ensure alignment between SAP functional design, technical execution, and business outcomes.
- Guide solution design decisions to ensure feasibility, maintainability, and long term value.
- Change Management & Innovation
- Lead change management efforts for ERP-enabled business transformation, supporting stakeholder adoption and readiness.
- Promote innovation by enabling rapid collaboration between business and D&IT on SAP-enabled process improvements.
- Support continuous improvement through lessons learned and optimization of delivery practices.
- Performance Tracking & Executive Reporting
- Track and report on ERP program KPIs, milestones, financial performance, risks, and benefits realization.
- Deliver concise, executive-level reporting to senior leadership and steering committees.
- Use data-driven insights to support informed decision-making and course correction.
Required Skills and Experience
- 12–15+ years of IT experience, with significant time in senior project or program management roles.
- Extensive experience delivering large-scale ERP (SAP) implementations or transformations in an enterprise setting.
- Proven delivery of multiyear, high budget, enterprise programs.
- Strong experience with Waterfall, Agile, and hybrid delivery models.
- Hands‑on experience with SAP ERP (e.g., S/4HANA, ECC, or major SAP modules).
- Strong understanding of enterprise systems, integrations, cloud platforms, data governance, and security.
- PMP certification preferred.
- Agile (Scrum), SAFe, or ITIL certifications are strong assets.
- Demonstrated ability to manage vendor partners and system integrators.
- Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills at the executive level.
- Proven success aligning ERP delivery outcomes with enterprise and business transformation strategies.
- Deep experience leading large-scale SAP ERP initiatives in complex enterprise environments.
- Ability to create and execute long-term ERP and digital transformation roadmaps aligned to business strategy.
- Exceptional ability to present complex technical and program information clearly to senior leadership.
- Proven capability to manage multiple priorities and critical‑path decisions under tight timelines.
- Strong ability to bridge business process needs with SAP and enterprise technology solutions.
- Experience leading enterprise‑wide change and guiding stakeholders through transformation.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving solutions in fast‑paced environments.
- Strong focus on delivering measurable business value within scope, schedule, and budget.
