Job summary

The Ontario Public Service (OPS) is seeking a Safety and Personnel Systems Specialist for the Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services (AFFES) in Dryden. You will join a multi-disciplinary team to advise on health and safety programs, support implementation, and drive continuous improvement across the AFFES safety management system.

You will interpret and apply OH&S legislation, coordinate training, and lead program development with strong communication and project management skills.

Qualifications

• You must have a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent.
• Ability to travel to conduct field audits, training and attend meetings.
• Working knowledge of OH&S principles, risk management, incident investigation and analysis.
• Ability to interpret OH&S legislation and standards (OH&S Act, WSIA, CSA) for AFFES programs.
• Knowledge of AFFES program components (Aviation, Emergency Management, Fire Management).

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, coordinate and support health and safety programs within the AFFES branch.
• Identify, review and recommend improvements to AFFES health and safety programs.
• Support compliance to federal and provincial workplace requirements and standards.
• Provide advice and leadership to managers and staff on AFFES health and safety management system programs.
• Lead and coordinate development and maintenance of occupational safety programs.
