Job summary

CIMA+ in Ontario is seeking a Lead Engineer - Roadway Design to lead civil roadway components on major transportation projects from preliminary through detailed design. You will coordinate with drainage, utilities, and municipal teams and may be based in Mississauga, Toronto, Markham or Bowmanville offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario or immediately eligible.
• Minimum 15+ years of roadway/highway design experience.
• Proven experience with MTO and/or municipal clients.
• Strong knowledge of highway engineering standards, policies, and guidelines.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Lead roadway design components for major transportation projects from concept to completion.
• Act as a transportation engineer on MTO and municipal projects in both preliminary and detailed design.
• Prepare and review technical reports, contract documents, design drawings, quantities, and cost estimates.
• Perform quality control reviews on plans, profiles, and design models using Civil 3D, InRoads, and/or OpenRoads Designer.
• Conduct initial site inspections and support constructability reviews.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technologists.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, agencies, and internal teams.
• Support business development including client relationships, proposals, and major project pursuits.
