Job summary

Bird Construction is seeking a Senior Project Coordinator for Roads and Utilities in Canada. You will work closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to coordinate safety, quality, scheduling, cost controls, and communications across sub-trades and suppliers.

The role focuses on coordinating roadworks, underground utilities, drainage, and related infrastructure, ensuring alignment with project documents and regulatory standards while supporting subcontractor management and project

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering or construction management.
• Eligible for, or have attained, E.I.T., P.Eng., CET, or PQS designations.
• 5-7 years’ hands-on experience as a project coordinator in large commercial, civil and/or institutional construction projects.
• Experience in trackwork, station construction, or architectural cladding.
• Demonstrated ability to forge and maintain positive relationships.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist with price change orders, track RFIs, review and coordinate shop drawings, and coordinate information provided by sub-trades and suppliers.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and design change requests (DCRs).
• Prepare and update the project budget, schedule, and cost report under the Project Manager’s direction.
• Maintain weekly master project schedule and align superintendent look-aheads.
• Monitor productivity rates and subcontractor planned versus actuals in the schedule.
• Coordinate construction activities for roadworks, underground utilities, drainage systems, and related infrastructure with site supervision and subcontractors.
• Liaise with municipalities, utility companies, consultants, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Assist in managing subcontracts including notification periods and value increases.
• Participate in subcontractor and project meetings; prepare minutes, action items, and follow-up reports.
• Provide assistance to the Project Manager in ensuring health, safety and environmental standards meet requirements.
• Ensure JHAs and work plans are prepared and reviewed prior to tasks.
