Job summary

Bird Construction is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead on-site operations on a commercial/institutional project in Canada. You will supervise subcontractors and field staff, implement safety programs, and maintain schedules and budgets while ensuring quality and client satisfaction.

Ideal candidates have progressive field leadership experience, carpentry background or Gold Seal certification, and strong communication and problem-solving skills to drive outcomes and team development.

Qualifications

• Progressive experience in General Contracting as a Superintendent in commercial and institutional construction.
• Trade background in carpentry or Gold Seal Certification considered an asset.
• Ability to read and interpret contract drawings and specifications.
• Demonstrated leadership, field management and problem-solving skills.
• Safety leadership and staff development to deliver results and quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct and coordinate work of subcontractors and labourers on a construction site.
• Provide safety leadership through Bird Safety Program and monitor safety performance.
• Develop and maintain project schedule; contribute to schedule refinement.
• Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, site instructions, and change notices.
• Ensure quality of subcontractor workmanship and materials; monitor performance.
• Maintain daily field reports, safety inspections and schedule updates.
