At Neo, we’re on a mission to build a more rewarding financial future for all Canadians. Life at a rapidly expanding tech startup isn’t for everyone. It’s complex, fast-paced, high-pressure, but also incredibly fulfilling. Since its founding in 2019, Neo has gained incredible traction and is one of the fastest-growing fintech companies in Canada.

  • LinkedIn’s Top Startup in Canada for 2022 and 2023
  • Top-ranked mobile apps and credit cards
  • Team of 700+ people
  • 1M+ customers

The Role

Neo Financial is looking for a full-time Senior Risk Specialist to join our team in Calgary. Our risk & compliance team navigates through a fast-paced environment and knows how to switch gears to adapt to any scenario. We strive to make things better, simpler and stronger. Make your mark by addressing the dynamic and ever changing landscape of compliance, alongside some of Canada’s most successful leaders and tech minds.

What you'll be doing:

  • Drive initiatives to strengthen Neo’s operational risk framework, including scenario analysis and risk control self-assessments (RCSA).
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments across business units, identifying key operational, financial, and compliance risks.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain controls to mitigate identified risks within Neo's risk tolerance thresholds.
  • Implement business and IT control frameworks and guidelines in high-growth environments.
  • Establish and maintain a framework for regular risk monitoring and reporting.
  • Prepare detailed risk reports and dashboards for senior management, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain risk policies, procedures, and control frameworks, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with business units to ensure risk considerations are integrated into strategic decisions.
  • Champion risk awareness and contribute to building a strong risk culture across the organization.
  • Support internal and external audits by ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate.

Who we are looking for:

  • Minimum of 5+ years in risk management, operational risk, payment services or related roles within the financial services industry.
  • Deep understanding of risk management frameworks (e.g., COSO, ISO, or OSFI guidelines).
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations, including RPAA, OSFI B-10, PCI DSS, PCMLTFA, and PIPEDA.
  • Experience with GRC tools and systems (e.g., Resolver) for monitoring and reporting.
  • Professional designations such as CRM, CRISC, CISA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and trends.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or G Suite; familiarity with risk management software is a plus.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines.
