Job summary

Intact is seeking a Risk Control Consultant (or Senior Risk Control Consultant) for its Transportation & Fleet team. You will provide technical risk management guidance to underwriters, brokers, and policyholders in commercial auto and trucking accounts.

The role requires 3–5 years of experience, knowledge of CVOR/SAFER/USDOT, and a valid driver’s license. A collaborative, independent, customer-focused mindset is essential, with strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of Ontario CVOR, SAFER, USDOT (requirements for trucking insurance).
• 3 to 5 years of experience, subject matter expert for trucking accounts.
• Experience in claims, underwriting, risk control, or safety related to commercial auto or trucking.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice on risk management and loss prevention for commercial auto and trucking accounts.
• Conduct investigations and evaluations of auto/trucking insurance operations for existing or potential business.
• Provide recommendations to improve accounts based on technical expertise.
• Deliver quality service to policyholders, brokers, underwriters, and managers.
• Participate in development and implementation of risk control training programs.
• Answer technical questions and potentially lead training sessions for policyholders and brokers.
• Maintain knowledge of commercial auto/trucking operations and regulatory changes.

About the role

We are looking for a Risk Control Consultant or Senior Risk Control Consultant for our growing Transportation & Fleet team!

What you'll accomplish with us :

• Provide technical advice and consultation to underwriters, adjusters and brokers on risk management and loss prevention related to commercial automobile and trucking accounts.
• Conduct investigations and evaluations of commercial auto and trucking insurance operations for existing and/or potential business.
• Provide verbal and written recommendations based on technical expertise to help improve the account, as needed.
• Provide quality service and experience to policyholders and brokers as well as internal stakeholders such as underwriters, adjusters and managers.
• Participate in the development and implementation of risk control and prevention training programs for brokers, underwriters and insureds.
• Answer technical questions and potentially provide training sessions to policyholders, underwriters, and brokers.
• Maintain knowledge expertise in commercial auto and trucking insurance operations.
• Keep abreast of changes in provincial and state regulations and industry standards.

What you'll put to good use :

• College degree or sufficient experience in the industry (trucking or insurance)
• Excellent knowledge of Ontario CVOR, SAFER, USDOT, etc.
• 3 to 5 years of experience and subject matter expert with the knowledge required to assess commercial vehicle and trucking accounts.
• Knowledge of technology related to the trucking industry, such as telematics, electronic records (ELDs), dash cams and their use.
• Experience working in claims, underwriting, risk control, or safety as it relates to commercial auto or trucking.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Be a good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Be motivated, take initiative and have the ability to solve problems.
• Be customer and results oriented.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT).
