Job summary

Intact Financial Corporation is seeking a Risk Control Consultant or Senior Risk Control Consultant for its Transportation & Fleet team in Ontario. The role focuses on risk management, loss prevention, and advisory support to underwriters, brokers and claim handlers for commercial auto and trucking accounts.

The candidate will investigate operations, provide recommendations, and help develop training programs. A 3–5 year background in trucking/insurance and strong MS Office skills are expected.

Qualifications

• College degree or sufficient industry experience (trucking or insurance).
• Excellent knowledge of Ontario CVOR, SAFER, USDOT, etc.
• 3 to 5 years of experience with commercial vehicle/trucking accounts.
• Knowledge of trucking tech (telematics, ELDs, dash cams).
• Experience in claims, underwriting, risk control, or safety for commercial auto/trucking.
• Valid driver’s license with good record.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated, initiative, problem-solver.
• Customer- and results-oriented.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Proficient in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice and consultation to underwriters, adjusters and brokers on risk management and loss prevention for commercial auto and trucking accounts.
• Conduct investigations and evaluations of commercial auto/trucking operations for existing or potential business.
• Provide written and verbal recommendations to improve accounts based on expertise.
• Deliver quality service to policyholders, brokers and internal stakeholders.
• Develop and implement risk control and prevention training programs for brokers, underwriters and insureds.
• Answer technical questions and potentially provide training sessions to policyholders and brokers.
• Maintain knowledge of commercial auto/trucking operations and regulatory changes.

About the role

We are looking for a Risk Control Consultant or Senior Risk Control Consultant for our growing Transportation & Fleet team!

What you'll accomplish with us :

• Provide technical advice and consultation to underwriters, adjusters and brokers on risk management and loss prevention related to commercial automobile and trucking accounts.
• Conduct investigations and evaluations of commercial auto and trucking insurance operations for existing and/or potential business.
• Provide verbal and written recommendations based on technical expertise to help improve the account, as needed.
• Provide quality service and experience to policyholders and brokers as well as internal stakeholders such as underwriters, adjusters and managers.
• Participate in the development and implementation of risk control and prevention training programs for brokers, underwriters and insureds.
• Answer technical questions and potentially provide training sessions to policyholders, underwriters, and brokers.
• Maintain knowledge expertise in commercial auto and trucking insurance operations.
• Keep abreast of changes in provincial and state regulations and industry standards.

What you'll put to good use :

• College degree or sufficient experience in the industry (trucking or insurance)
• Excellent knowledge of Ontario CVOR, SAFER, USDOT, etc.
• 3 to 5 years of experience and subject matter expert with the knowledge required to assess commercial vehicle and trucking accounts.
• Knowledge of technology related to the trucking industry, such as telematics, electronic records (ELDs), dash cams and their use.
• Experience working in claims, underwriting, risk control, or safety as it relates to commercial auto or trucking.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Be a good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Be motivated, take initiative and have the ability to solve problems.
• Be customer and results oriented.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT).
