Job summary

Opticca Consulting Inc. in Quebec is seeking a highly experienced Senior RHEL Engineer to design, build, secure, automate, and support enterprise Red Hat environments across data centres, virtualization, containers, and cloud infrastructure.

The role requires deep OS expertise, disciplined automation, and the ability to diagnose complex issues across compute, identity, networking, storage, security, and applications.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of hands-on enterprise Linux administration in production.
• Deep knowledge of RHEL installation, boot, systemd, kernel, packages, repositories, filesystems, LVM, networking, security, and performance analysis.
• Experience with Red Hat Satellite and lifecycle management.
• Experience integrating Linux with Active Directory or IdM and troubleshooting authentication and certificates.
• Strong understanding of SELinux, firewalld/nftables, vulnerability remediation, and least-privilege administration.
• Proficiency with Ansible, shell scripting, Git, and automated build/operational practices.
• French working proficiency; English required for collaboration with clients outside Quebec.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, configure, harden, patch, upgrade, and support RHEL servers across data-centre, virtualization, container, and cloud environments.
• Create and maintain standardized server builds, configuration baselines, repositories, lifecycle policies, and automated provisioning workflows.
• Administer Red Hat Satellite, content views, lifecycle environments, activation keys, host groups, repositories, subscriptions, and patch compliance.
• Integrate Linux systems with enterprise identity and access services using Red Hat IdM, AD, SSSD, Kerberos, LDAP, sudo, certificates, and MFA where applicable.
• Configure and troubleshoot networking, DNS, time synchronization, firewalls, SELinux, filesystems, LVM, multipathing, NFS, SMB, iSCSI, and related services.
• Implement security hardening and compliance controls; remediate vulnerabilities and audit findings.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, patching, validation, compliance, and operational tasks with Ansible.
• Monitor and tune CPU, memory, I/O, kernel, network, and application performance; diagnose service degradation and outages.
• Plan and execute major-version upgrades, migrations, platform refreshes, HA configurations, backups, and DR testing.
• Develop build documents, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, implementation plans, and knowledge-transfer materials; provide senior escalation support.
