Position Type: Full-Time – Commission-Based
About The Staffing Exchange
At The Staffing Exchange, we are a professional recruitment platform dedicated to improving and streamlining recruitment and hiring processes across Canada and the United States. Our model is built on a 100% commission-based structure, emphasizing entrepreneurial drive, client service excellence, and candidate quality over traditional staffing models. We specialize in permanent placements, contract staffing, temporary-to-permanent roles, and payroll services across engineering, skilled trades, finance, and other professional sectors.
Position Summary
The Senior Recruitment & Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth by acquiring new clients, managing key accounts, and delivering top-tier recruitment services. You will act as both a recruitment leader and business strategist—building long-term client relationships while sourcing, assessing, and placing top professional talent. This role is ideal for a self-motivated, experienced recruiter or staffing sales professional who thrives in a high-performance, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Proactively identify, target, and secure new client relationships through direct outreach, networking, and referrals.
- Manage the full sales cycle: from lead generation to client meetings, presentations, negotiations, and contract execution.
- Conduct outbound business development daily, including 30+ outbound calls per day, to build and maintain a strong sales pipeline.
- Sign new client agreements from cold outreach—demonstrating comfort and success in securing new business without inbound leads.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of clients’ staffing needs, company cultures, and industry trends.
- Negotiate contingency and retainer-based search agreements in line with TSE’s service offerings.
Recruitment & Talent Delivery
- Conduct full-cycle recruitment: sourcing, screening, interviewing, presenting candidates, offer negotiation, and post-placement follow-up.
- Build and manage a robust pipeline of high-quality candidates across key industry sectors (engineering, skilled trades, finance, and other professional sectors).
- Leverage technology (ATS, LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards) and innovative sourcing strategies to identify passive and active talent.
- Ensure compliance with applicable recruitment standards, employment laws, and internal best practices.
Account Management
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, offering strategic workforce planning and recruitment consulting.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with existing clients to secure repeat business and grow account revenue.
- Conduct regular client check-ins to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns proactively.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of successful full-cycle recruitment experience (agency preferred); experience in staffing sales or business development is strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding recruitment and sales targets in a commission-based environment, or billing over $250,000 annually.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to engage and influence senior decision-makers.
- Expertise in recruiting in sectors such as engineering, skilled trades, finance, or other professional services is highly valued.
- Exceptional sourcing skills using LinkedIn, Indeed, ATS platforms, referrals, and creative strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and high self-motivation.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a drive to build and grow your own book of business.
What We Offer
- Earnings: 100% commission-based model – retain 60% to 70% of your placement (production) fees while we handle billing, job postings, and client payments.
- Premium Tools: Access to LinkedIn Recruiter Licenses, leading job boards, and automated outreach platforms to help you source top talent faster and more effectively.
- Community Support: Join a collaborative network of experienced recruiters who share leads, tools, strategies, and support to help each other succeed.
- Flexibility: Work independently, with no fixed office hours or rigid schedules—manage your recruitment on your terms.
- Professional Independence: Perfect for freelance recruiters or agency professionals ready to take control of their career and build their own recruitment business under a trusted platform.
- Self-Motivation: A role best suited for driven professionals who thrive in autonomous environments and consistently deliver strong recruitment outcomes.
Who Thrives in This Role
- You've signed clients successfully and consistently.
- You've done outbound business development successfully.
- You're 100% comfortable making 30-50+ calls a day to build your pipeline.
- You've already excelled in business development within a recruitment agency setting.
- You are a confident cold caller and don't hesitate to open business.
Who This Role Is Not For
- You avoid the phone or prefer only email-based communication.
- You require onboarding, coaching, or training before taking proactive action.
- Your background is exclusively internal recruitment (HR/Corporate Talent Acquisition roles only).
- You are uncomfortable being measured by activity levels, pipelines, and revenue generation.
Why Join The Staffing Exchange?
- Work with a supportive, experienced leadership team focused on your success.
- 100% remote or hybrid flexibility — control your schedule and earnings.
- Access to internal ATS, CRM systems, marketing support, and operational tools.
- Build a scalable business within a reputable, licensed staffing firm. (We take care of all the back-office support, licensing, and compliance across Canada and the United States while you focus on what you do best — recruitment and client management.)
- Specializing in permanent, contract, and temp-to-perm recruitment across North America.
- Entrepreneurial environment: You earn what you're worth!
