Job summary

AgeCare Sandringham is seeking a dedicated Recreation Aide to plan, implement and evaluate resident-centered recreation and leisure programs in line with care plans.

The role involves supporting assessments, documenting participation, and fostering a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere. A Diploma in Recreation or related field is required, with experience with seniors and strong English communication skills preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology, or a related field (required).
• Experience with seniors in recreation, health care, or community settings is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal English communications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Compassionate, energetic and collaborative team player.
• Valid driver’s license for transporting residents and operating facility transportation vehicles.
• Current Vulnerable Sector Check/Criminal Record Check or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, coordinating and delivering recreation and leisure programs.
• Create welcoming environment that fosters resident participation and well‑being.
• Support assessments and evaluate engagement, preferences, and program effectiveness.
• Maintain documentation including participation records and program notes.
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, volunteers and the team.
• Facilitate participation in programs, events and outings, with transportation support as needed.
• Contribute to daily program prep and delivery, including meal service support.
