Job summary

Arup in Toronto seeks an Americas Signaling Leader to drive rail signaling across the region, from concept to implementation. The role oversees multidisciplinary teams, ensures compliance with safety standards, and strengthens client relationships while delivering complex signaling programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of experience in rail systems and signaling engineering.
• Strong expertise in signaling and train control systems (CBTC, PTC, ETCS or CTC).
• Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams on major infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with railway industry standards and safety frameworks (CENELEC, AREMA, IEEE, EN).

Responsibilities

• Lead signaling leadership for Americas rail projects, establishing technical excellence.
• Mentor signaling engineers, support recruitment and career development.
• Provide technical leadership from concept through implementation for complex signaling projects.
• Oversee signaling design processes where Arup is prime/lead designer.
• Ensure quality, safety, regulatory and client requirements across signaling work.
• Lead systems engineering, verification, validation, and assurance activities.
• Develop client relationships across North America and support business development.
• Provide commercial oversight, resource planning, and project delivery leadership.
• Collaborate with regional and global leaders to strengthen Arup’s rail systems practice.
