Job summary

Magna Exteriors Canada is seeking a senior Quality Engineer to lead advancement of automotive quality programs. You will drive continuous improvement, coordinate with design, manufacturing, and suppliers, and ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and AIAG core tools.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, 5–8 years of manufacturing quality experience, and strong leadership for cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Five to eight years of progressive automotive manufacturing quality experience.
• Advanced knowledge of IATF 16949, AIAG Core Tools, PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, GD&T.

Job Responsibilities:

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Educational Requirements: University degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing or a related technical discipline; an equivalent combination of relevant post-secondary education and extensive automotive quality experience may be considered.

Minimum Experience: Five to eight years of progressive automotive manufacturing quality experience, including program launch, direct customer contact and leadership of complex quality issues.

Knowledge Required: Advanced knowledge of IATF 16949, AIAG Core Tools, PPAP, APQP, Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, capability analysis, GD&T, blueprint interpretation, metrology, customer-specific requirements and structured problem-solving methods including 8D, 7D, 5 Why, PRR and QPR.

Computer Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio; ability to analyze quality data and prepare clear technical reports and management presentations.

Additional Certificates/Diplomas: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, IATF 16949 Internal Auditor, VDA 6.3, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, and AIAG Core Tools training are preferred.

Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical issues effectively to customers, suppliers, shop-floor personnel and senior management.

Additional Education/Experience: Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams, customer escalations, audits, corrective actions, supplier quality improvement and the mentoring of quality personnel.
