Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking an experienced Senior Planner / Scheduler to join our Energy & Resources team in Canada. You will develop and optimize complex schedules across engineering, procurement, and construction, serving as a trusted advisor to project managers.

The role requires strong planning delivery knowledge, travel up to 15-20% to sites in Canada and the U.S., and expertise in energy, mining, power, renewables, or major infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of planning and scheduling experience on large projects.
• Experience in Energy & Resources projects (mining, power generation, transmission and distribution, renewable energy, industrial facilities, oil and gas, or major infrastructure).
• Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6.
• Strong understanding of EPC/ construction delivery processes.
• Extensive knowledge of CPM scheduling principles, schedule development, and schedule analysis techniques.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of integrated project schedules from concept through execution and project closeout.
• Develop engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup schedules using Primavera P6.
• Establish schedule logic, critical paths, milestones, constraints, resource requirements, and execution strategies.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineering leads, procurement teams, construction managers, contractors, and clients to develop realistic and achievable project plans.
• Validate project execution strategies and ensure schedules reflect project scope and delivery requirements.
• Establish and maintain baseline schedules and schedule management plans.
• Maintain and update project schedules based on progress and forecast information.
• Perform critical path, float, productivity, and schedule performance analyses.
• Identify schedule risks, constraints, and opportunities and recommend mitigation or recovery strategies.
• Conduct what-if analyses and scenario planning for alternative approaches.
• Support change management through schedule impact assessments and recovery planning.
• Work with cost controls and risk teams to align schedule with objectives.
• Support earned value management, progress measurement, forecasting, and reporting.
