Job summary

Stantec’s Energy team in western Canada is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead a diverse group of engineers on utilities projects across Western Canada. This is a technical leadership role focused on coordinating multi-discipline design across structural, mechanical, civil, and electrical domains.

You will mentor staff, promote safety, and ensure project scope is met while maintaining schedule and budget. Hybrid office/home work arrangement is available, with Burnaby as a primary location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required.
• 12+ years progressive engineering experience.
• 4+ years leading multi-discipline design teams on large, complex projects.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.

Responsibilities

• Ensure client expectations related to project scope are clearly understood, met, and exceeded.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members; foster initiative, collaboration, and professional growth.
• Champion a strong safety culture by promoting safe work practices and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations.
• Prepare and review technical reports, presentations, standards, specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Lead and coordinate multi-discipline design teams for medium to large-scale projects, ensuring integration across structural, mechanical, civil, and electrical domains.
• Resolve highly technical and unusual design or field engineering issues by conducting independent studies and exercising expert judgment.
• Assist project and operations management in meeting safety, cost, quality, and time objectives; review contractor payment requests and progress reports.
• Contribute to development of technical standards and ensure designs support safe operations.
