Job summary

Thomas Cavanagh Construction Limited is seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee multiple construction projects in the Eastern Ontario region, from pre-construction to completion, maintaining client and trade partner relationships.

You will manage cost reporting, scheduling, and procurement, lead cross-functional teams, and mentor staff while ensuring design coordination and quality across all stages of projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience managing ICI or condo/apartment projects.
  • Architectural or Engineering diploma/degree is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of CCDC contracts and construction law.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn and grow professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple construction projects from pre-construction to handover with stakeholders.
  • Prepare regular billings and ensure timely payment to subcontractors.
  • Lead project meetings and communicate concerns and recommendations.
  • Monitor costs, budgets, and cash flow against estimates.
  • Mentor internal staff and coordinate with Owners and consulting teams.
  • Maintain project data using Autodesk Build and MS Project.

Overview:

The General Contracting division at Thomas Cavanagh Construction has proudly provided comprehensive general contracting and construction management services to the community for over a decade. Our privileged engagement extends to overseeing and constructing projects for external clients, as well as contributing internally to various sectors within the Cavanagh organization. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing and reporting on multiple construction projects while maintaining client and trade partner relationships in the industry.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide overall construction management from pre-construction to completion including design, coordination, budget, and schedule in conjunction with all stakeholders.
  • Prepare regular, timely and accurate billings for Owners, and ensure timely payment of subcontractor billings.
  • Meet with Owners and Consulting teams in a professional manner and communicate effectively both the concerns and best interests of the company.
  • Monitor, interpret and forecast project cost reports ensuring they are in line with the estimate and maintain a positive cash flow.
  • Lead project meetings with internal and external parties to monitor and support the team’s ongoing development and progression.
  • Engage and build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure common goals are achieved and corporate interests are kept in mind.
  • Participate in business development with other internal team members to help build and grow the General Contracting sector.
  • Manage, mentor and train internal staff.
  • Maintain up to the minute project information using Autodesk Build project management software and Microsoft Project for scheduling.
  • Help estimating with tendering and job showings as needed.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience managing projects in the ICI or Condo/Apartment Building industry.
  • Architectural or Engineering diploma or degree considered an asset.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge and understanding of CCDC Contracts and Construction Law.
  • A passion for interpersonal relationships, self-motivation, and leadership development.
  • Willingness to learn and grow professionally.
  • Strength in analysis and creative problem solving.
  • Experience with COR (Certificate of Recognition) considered an asset.

Wage Range

The salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $100,000 per year and $135,000 per year. However, the range offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
