Job summary

Acero Engineering Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Engineer – Compression in Calgary, Alberta. The candidate will lead FEED for a large Greenfield full field development, manage schedules, estimates, and vendor activities, and ensure compliance with regulatory codes.

Must have 8+ years’ project engineering experience, strong compression background, and P.Eng registration in Alberta. Proficiency with MS Word/Excel/Project/Visio/PowerPoint/Teams is required and ability to work under tight

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 8 years’ experience as a Project Engineer with strong technical capabilities.
• Strong compression experience is a must have.
• Must have 6+ years’ experience at an EPCM working on projects related to Oil and Gas Facilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Process Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with ENCH 607/609 (or equivalent) and registered as a Professional Engineer in Alberta.
• Experience with MS Word, Excel, Project, Visio, PowerPoint, Teams.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain project schedules, man-hour estimates, and cost estimates.
• Request vendor information, issue RFQs, evaluate quotes, and recommend awards.
• Assist with preparation of scope documents, DBMs, PEPs, kickoff docs, RFQs.
• Assemble and direct construction work packages with proper binder contents.
• Understand regulatory codes and implications on design (e.g., spacing).
• Understand piping and equipment specifications.
• Participate in HAZOPS and related close-outs.
• Engage with squad checks and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Communicate changes to clients, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
• Prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks with quality and deadlines.

Job description

Acero Engineering Inc. (“Acero”), a growing oil & gas facilities engineering company providing engineering, procurement and construction management expertise is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill one role as a Senior Project Engineer – Compression; 8 – 12+ years’ experience.

Acero is focused on facility and pipeline engineering, procurement and construction management services; from concept evaluation to plant start-up. Our core service offering is in-house project management, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control engineering, project engineering, procurement, regulatory services, civil and structural engineering, and construction management.

Responsibilities:

As the Senior Project Engineer for the FEED of a large Greenfield full field development:

• Creating and maintaining project schedules, engineering man-hour estimates, and cost estimates
• Requesting vendor information, compiling and distributing RFQs, evaluating quotes, and recommending purchase awards
• Assisting with the preparation and review of scope documents, reports, DBMs, PEPs, project kickoff documentation, RFQs, etc.
• Assembling and/or directing the assembly of construction work packages with an awareness and attention to what should be contained in the binder
• Understanding regulatory codes and the implication on Acero’s design (e.g. spacing)
• Understanding and working with piping and various equipment specifications
• Participate in HAZOPS, including dealing with preparation and close-outs
• Understanding and participating in squad checks
• Communicating effectively with team members and stakeholders (including clients, vendors, regulatory bodies, etc.) – e.g. notifying the appropriate stakeholders of all changes
• Prioritizing workload and being able to juggle multiple tasks without falling short on quality or deadlines
• Other tasks/responsibilities, as required

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

• Must have a minimum of 8 years’ experience as a Project Engineer with strong technical capabilities
• Strong compression experience is a “must have”
• Must have 6+ years’ experience at an EPCM working on projects related to Oil and Gas Facilities
• Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Process Engineering or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with successful completion of ENCH 607 & 609 (or equivalent courses), and registered as a professional engineer in the province of Alberta
• Understanding and working effectively with MS Word, Excel, Project, Visio, Powerpoint, Teams
• Excellent team collaboration and interpersonal skills
• Strong written, verbal, analytical and critical thinking skills
• Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight timelines as occasionally demanded by our clients
